Friday Foolishness – Jeopardized Edition

Today’s Music: J. Roddy Walston and the Business – Heavy Bells

But you could probably tell that last part. So if there were only two concerts, how did I spend the rest of the time I should have been sleeping? Why, reading blogs of course! Here’s some of what I saw.
Scarp went shopping. Live Clay opened the Tooth Fairy’s luggage, and Quirky had a baby!!!
Wow! Thanks to them and all of you for the great eye candy this week.
(Yes, some of these are from a couple of weeks ago, but still, I still wanted to mention them.)

No, it's a smile. Just take the damn picture already.

No, it’s a smile. Just take the damn picture already.

Besides concerts, one of the things that kept me up this week was last weeks poll. We asked what the next technology should be. And boy, were you all forward thinking. Here’s what you said. (As always, my comments beep and whirr in italics.)

Sharp Little Pencil says microchips hotwiring our brains – zombie behavior.
(ERROR 404—SNarkY RespONSe nOt fouND)
Nokia!!!! (Kanerva, rooting for the home team here)
(Then your new home-team is Microsoft (google it), and they don’t give any discounts for being nice….)
Zombie Robots?? John Phillips
the dumb phone (Stacy)
(It’s not the phone. It’s the users.)
A truly clever toaster that never burns your toast MyBeautifulThings
(Trying to figure out what military technology that will be adapted from.)
Dog mute app. Scarp.
Amish Space Program – Hotspur
(To humbly go where none before thee hath gone. And mind the horse poop.)
Female Sex Robots – Hotspur
(Does it matter what gende- Oh, sure…sure, female…)
Fake Laugh Implants — Linda Vernon
(As long as they feel real!)
Rosie from the Jetsons! Benzeknees
(Whew! Thought you were going to say Rosie from “Roseanne”!)
Wall-E (Add-E)
Something nobody over 30 will be able to figure out without assistance Elyse 54
(Bring back the VCR! No one under 30 will understand it…)
.5 (It cut me off. Obviously a new fangled poll.)
(We’re still trying to fix the *bug )

Please says clones! I am tired of doing everything. just want sleep. -UndercoverL
(What makes you think your clones won’t be as lazy?)
PMAO… we will all be driving bumper cars…
(I always knew we were a bunch of clowns.)
A vibrator which recharges itself. ~Red.
Teleportation! I would be better able to get off this island! Kayjai
(Can’t you just be voted off?)
Friday Follishness – Phone Edition – all the foolishness all the time. thematticuskingdom
(This is the most serious thing I do all week.)
a bug free version of windows. thematticuskingdom
(Woah – we’re looking for possible futures here, not flat out fantasy!)
TV antennas for your retinas. thematticuskingdom
(Had to look in an old Farmers Almanac to find out what “tv antennae” were…)
insta-polygraphs: letting you identify the liars around you. thematticuskingdom
(I think those are called “ears”.)
followed swiftly by the insta-polygraph beater. thematticuskingdom
(I think those are called “politicians”.)
Twigs upgraded to some sort of brush for the teeth (Rutabaga)
(Will it scrape off the genetically modified food I eat?)
Google glass right in the eyeball. Embrace the Google overlord. (rollergiraffe)
(Can I also see everyone in my Goolge Talk- I mean Google+- I mean…maybe Google should just focus on searching…)
brickhousechick: an app that does your job at the office AND in bed! :)
(What I do in bed isn’t a job. It’s an adventure.)
(*snaps on harness and lowers goggles*)

angry birds
(I’d be angry too if that was the pinnacle of technology.)

Congratulations to Red for this weeks winning answer! And from the offered choices, the most popular was Whatever it is, it will mostly be used for porn.. So it looks like the future will bring confusion. And sex.
Funny how those two often travel together…

I'll take "Who Has Burt Reynolds Envy" for $2.50, Alex.

I’ll take “Who Has Burt Reynolds Envy” for $2.50, Alex.

Well, you know what comes next. This is the part where I ask an incredibly stupid question. But this time, that’s not going to happen. This time I’m just going to write the answers. You get to write the question!
Pick as many answers as you like. But “Other” answers should be the question that these are in some vague way related to. And if you leave a write-in, leave some ID too so I can link back to you next week. Oh, and do all that by 2359 EDT on 2 October, because that’s when this one ends.

And to send you on your way while I catch a much needed nap at my desk…
Yes, it’s a car commercial. But it’s still funny.

And since I seem to be all technology-future this week, let’s finish off here.

Thanks for coming around, and I’ll see you…well, some time next week, I guess…
Have a great weekend!

  1. I’ll have to get creative on this challenge! Have a great weekend. :)

  2. Who did you go and see? I was offered last minute Pixies ticket for free but I was in the middle of dinner. Shows how old I’ve become – the gig was only a 10 minute walk from my house. It was an Itunes sponsored event, they have gigs all month, so assumed it would be full of non-fans anyway so not too miffed. And am seeing them in a month anyway, I fear without Kim it won’t be the same.

Also have The Wedding Present, Superchunk and Bill Callahan coming up

    • I saw the Pixies a few years ago, they were really good. My boss saw them just recently and said they were still good.
I saw KT Tunstall tuesday, Neko Case thrusday. they were both pretty good.

Going to look up The Wedding Present, Superchunk and Bill Callahan. Don’t know them(yet).

      • All from my youth. Wedding Present, best British band ever. Superchunk, good old indie rock. Bill Callahan also known as Smog on his earlier (and better ) work. We don’t hear from KT Tunstall over here much these days.

  3. You don’t need to tell me that Nokia is now Microsoft. The papers are full of it on a daily basis, along with golden handshakes and salary packages gone wrong. Who knows if the real story will ever come out. (Good news, Microsoft didn’t get all of Nokia… so let’s see) and now to read the rest of the answers :D

    • I sincerely hope that Microsoft keeps its Nokia division in your country and thrives. Also, the rest of Nokia is now going to focus on some other technology, so maybe we’ll see some interesting useful things still coming from them.

      • I hope so – I recently returned to the ‘mother ship’ so to speak. My new Lumia is hands down the best phone (smart or otherwise) I’ve ever owned.

If they continue in this fashion then there will be a Nokia in the future. Now if they’ll just get over the corporate back-stabbing and do some work, we’ll all be happy!

  4. Dammit, Guap I have no semi-witty answers for this poll! I’ll see if I can come up with something on the weekend…have a great one!

  5. Have an awesome weekend :D What concerts did you see?

    • Thanks Hyper, you too!
KT Tunstall tuesday, Neko Case thursday. Both opening acts (Benjamin Lopez and AC Newman) literally put me to sleep. But the heaadliners were realy good.
Neko Case was in Radio City Music Hall, which is a stunningly beautiful venue, and actually has legroom at the seats!

  6. (It’s not the phone. It’s the users.)

Truer words have never been, um, typed.

  7. I am too disturbed by the picture of Alex “Over-Enunciate Answers, Especially If They Are Remotely French in Origin” Trebek to come up with an answer or question for this week. I may have also lost my appetite for the next several days too…

  8. I too have Burt Reynolds Envy (By the by isn’t Burt short for Robert or Albert – so how come it is spelt Burt?) Oh well time for a nap

  9. “Amish Space Program”—So weird. I was thinking the same thing. Then again, who wasn’t?…

  10. If a chicken and a half lays an egg and a half in a day and a half, then how many one-legged monkeys with a wooden leg does it take to kick the teeth down the throat of a dill pickle???????

  11. Confusion & Sex. They do often go together, thank goodness RED has come up with the next great invention! :) Great idea to have us come up with the question! :)

    • There is a meta-poll tucked away n a safe undisclosed location.
It has a gimmick I can only absolutely ever use once, which means I’m saving it for the when I have absolutely nothing.
I almost used it this week.

      • Do you mean a metal pole as in pole dancing? Or a metal poll as in tallying answers and questions? I am quite intrigued by either one. :)

        • Ha! I wish I were that clever!
No, meta as in (from Urban Dictionary) “used to characterize something that is characteristically self-referential.”
It’s an uber self-referential poll that mocks the whole process and can only really be done once.
          (It isn’t bad though!)

  12. Oh, I looooooove this. Where has this hilarious feature been all my life?! (As opposed to that Alex “Boogie Nights” Trebek photo, which I could’ve gone my whole life without…) I now return to working on writing the winning question to the answer. That or napping.

    • Well, thanks to sequestration, they had to cut security to my ward, so now I can share this with everyone.
      WOOHOO!!!!!! ;)

Thinking of that pic as Alex “Boogie Nights” Trebek makes it even creepier, so thanks for that!

  13. Hey, try to guess who I’m being here: “I went to two concerts this week, but I’ll be damned if I tell you who I saw!”

You know female sex robots seem like a great idea, but nobody ever thinks about the clean up. Now you will, though.

Of course, it’s moot now–that sexy, sexy picture of Alex T made me switch sides. I’m sure it won’t be the last time.

    • No idea who that is, but he sounds like a pezhead.
      Or an asshat.
(I, on the other hand, saw KT Tunstall and Neko Case.)

I’m afraid to ask if Alex switched to or away.

      • You know, I’m not even sure any more.

I like Neko Case. I’ve only seen her once, back in (I believe) 2001 at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland. She was very charming. She spilled water on her shirt and said to the audience, “Geez, who’s a f***ing pig?” It was really cute.

  14. Today’s fantasy is tomorrows reality! Wait… no, that’s not quite right, It’s “today’s science fiction…” Well, science fiction and fantasy are basically the same thing, right?

  15. BRRAAIIINNNSS! Question: What is something all zombies want, and all DC politicians come without?
Alternate question: Other than privacy, what one thing keeps shrinking with increased technology? :D

  16. iBone…well, played Guap! And thank you…for including my foolishness in your foolishness!!!

  17. My weekend looks like a very long drive to check out a new city where Kelvin has a job interview Monday. If only it was south of here, but it’s north!

  18. Loved the Audi ad! Two gigs in a week, can’t be bad!
We are coming over the pond on Monday for a three week road trip around New England. Looking for a gig in Boston at the end of the drive….
    Have a good week :)

  19. The naked game…you never told me who won. We BOTH won! Ha ha. Great clips and, of course, your comments are stupendous! I will try hard to think of a question. Get some rest this weekend, huh, from your fun-filled week!

  20. Hard to type because of my wrists.

  21. iBone! (you are too witty, Guapo!) Loved the foolishness – have a great one!

  22. Can I get voted off this island and sent back to Europe?

  23. Haha I love Robot Chicken so much! This was a tricky role reversal poll. I don’t know how my question will compare to the question master himself!

  24. How were the concerts? They must be awesome!!!!!

  25. I like to think I will eventually get around to reading everyone’s posts and I will try. As always you guild me in the right direction Handsome.

  26. Stupendous isn’t it the out-of the box technological visions folks can come up with given half a chance.! History is replete with great scallops of progress being made from “foolish” ideas.

  27. I never really liked the seventies, Guap. Ew. <3

  28. Pic of Alex is too much. Hi Guap!

  29. Have a great week, El…not too much sleeping on your desk :)

  30. “And then the nun said, “Pass the avacado.” LOL!! I’m so glad I saved this for Monday Morning laughter! And those clips! If it weren’t for your weekly clips I’d be so out of it! But as it is, I”m a cool Friday Foolish hep cat! I gotta go — the nuns have arrived for the avacados!

  31. This is a wicked twist on your usual Friday Foolishness postings but I can see it being a wicked idea, in fact it should be just as funny as every other Friday :) I can’t wait to see what everyone added on this one :) lmao

Those nuns have a habit of stuffing things into
awkward places, and it is amazing what you will
find underneath there too, well I only said ;) lol

    • Ha! Thanks for the faith in me.
Actually, I’m getting my ass kicked on this one. Haven’t figured out how to do any of the rplies yet.
      Fortunately, it’s only tuesday here…

      • Yes Tuesday here too, but I am busy getting the early part of the Halloween script together, if that goes to plan it should be great :) I usually pick characters and add names for all my friends but here I have chosen to not do that, I wouldn’t want to offend anyone :( lol

I am looking forward to Friday and well done on yet another fine example of your creativity :) Awesome…

Have a brilliant time today Guap :)
