Friday Foolishness – Motion Sickness Edition

Today’s Music: Rogue Traders – Voodoo Child

And here we are on Friday again. I took Monday off for travel time for last weekends sailing. Which means I was overworked to make up for the day off. Sigh.
But in the midst of the rushing, I was able to pop into the blogosphere and read some great posts. Free Penny Press turned me on to Little Free Libraries. No Blog Intended had a rough week, but sometime today, she will be done with high school, so CONGRATULATIONS!!!
And Roly told us about the challenges of living with a difficult stomach
You guys (and all of you out there) were my small island of calm in a week moving way too fast. Sincere thanks for that!

Some of the busyness also came from keeping track of the delightfully twisted responses to last weeks poll. We asked What Should The Zombie Battlecry Be?. You guys didn’t hold back.
Sick. Disturbed. Hilarious.
Here’s what you said (as always, I try to be witty in italics):
None of the above. So last century. Kanerva
(I think you're confused, Kanerva – it's vampires that live for centuries.)
hhhhmmmmmpoooorrrrrkkkkkkrrrrriiiiiiiinnnnnnnnddddddsssss – John Phillips
(Homer Simpson – zombie extraordinaire)
Since my kids are flesh eaters, the battlecry isM MMMAAAAAMMMMMMAAAAAAAA! SnaapyG
(I’d think with 4 flesh eaters to manage you’d be the zombie…)
withhhh spriiinnkkkllllleessss… nooooo piiickkklleesssssss lizziec
(That could work, but pregnant zombies are a pretty small niche…)
EEEEEAAAAATTTTTT MEEEEEEEEEE! (Hotspur)
(Perhaps you don’t understand how the zombie/person relationship works…)
I WAAAAANT TOOOO EEEEEAT YOOOOOOUR FAAAAAAAACE! Lilly
(That’s only the Miami contigent, Lilly)
How are you doing? NBI
(Battlecry, NBI, not pickup line!)
“Hmm, seems my leg has fallen asleep. No wait, it’s just missing. My mistake.”
(Wouldnt that be the post battle cry?)
Pardon me. Have you any grey poupon? Stay Abnormal
(Do zombies ride in limousines?)
BBBAAAATTHHHH SSSSAAAAALLLTTTSSS! ~flame
(WE HAVE A WINNER!!!)
OLeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee’ free penny press
(Only if it’s zombies versus werebulls)
Nothing….bet that would make you think.
(Dangnabit, there’s no thinking in these polls!!!)
BBBEEEERRRRR!!!! KJ
(Hey, I’ve sounded like that when calling for what would prove to be the last roun- Crap. I’m a zombie.)
RAIDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDd
(Nah, they’d get sued for copyright infraction by the bug spray people.)
How can it not be BRRRAAAAIIIIINNNSSSSS!!! (Frank)
(You’re right Frank. Mostly because Zombies aren’t very creative.)

Congratulations to ~flame for her winning answer! And from the choices offered, BRRRAAAAIIIINNNNSSSS!!! (c’mon – it’s a classic!) was the most popular. Because there’s nothing wrong with tradition!
blah blah...
But the living dead aren’t right around the corner. So we have time for some other summery pursuits. If you’re like me, (then your shrink is overcharging you, you have no problems most of a case of tequila can’t fix, and) rollercoasters just bore you. Strapped in to a piece of high technology that is inspected frequently and maintained to the highest standard.
Yawn.
So this week, name your own. Pick a name that really conveys the essence of what your coaster is all about. Hey, if the lottery gods smile on us, we may even build it!
If you write in an answer leave a way to recognize you, and I’ll link back to you next week. Vote as often as you like, but do it before 2359 EST on Thursday, 14 June, because that’s when this one ends.

And until next week, I’ll leave you with these.
First, yes, this guy is crazier than me. Maybe. Possibly.
Ok, probably not…

And something a bit calmer, I got to see this float on the river in view of my office. It was something to see, with a flotilla accompanying it!

Have a great week all!

  1. Nice Foolishness and I’m not much of a roller coaster baby, but D2 is. I live vicariously through her…and sometimes, it gets a little nauseating, I have to say.

  2. Wow. A post with everything. I was disappointed, however, to see no coverage of the kitchen sink.

I’d probably call my roller coaster one of the following:

    WIDOW MAKER
    GEORGE W. BUSH
STATISTICS SAY EVENTUALLY ONE OF YOU WILL DIE
    MAINTAINED BY MINIMUM WAGE WORKERS
    SOILED UNDERPANTS

I’m glad to see at least one of mine made your list.

  3. Oh my … you may not have seen this at Mags this week.

  4. And given my location, I know you will appreciate our local attraction … The Beast … The longest, fastest, and best wooden roller coaster in the land … and it does roar!

    Like

    • Honestly, I’m not such a fan of wooden coasters, Frank. I’ve ridden a few, but find them about to jerky to be fun. Mostly, I just find them uncomfortable. That’s a great first drop though, and a really long run through some very nice scenerey.
Yeah, I’d probably ride it if I were in the area….

      Like

      • The Beast is jerky … but I’m counting on your daredevil side to lead you to success.

From the ground, the first drop doesn’t seem like much, because you can’t see it going down in a small valley. Meanwhile, the ending is a helix.

  5. We missed you at the party this week. It is still raging if you would like to stop by!
Great mash up as always! Have a great weekend~

  6. I had a friend whose mother and sister thought they were getting on the gondola but accidentally got on the rollarcoaster and when the ride was over they beat the guy who let them out with their purses.

How cool is that that you could see the Enterprise from your office. Only in America!

    Like

    • too funny! I’d have paid to be there when they got off the coaster!
Did they at least say they enjoyed it afterwards, Linda?

And the shuttle on the barge was really cool to see!

Your answers to the Polls – VERY hilarious this week! Still laughing about the werebull…(the in-line skater — that scared me!) AFrankAngle’s video (dinoconda) scared me, too! Haha – I’m scared but, I’m laughing! Great post – have a good weekend.
p.s. you’re gone from my Reader again, dangit!!!

    • Hmph. silly old reader.
Glad you enjoyed the answers, whitelady. And as long as you wtch the videos from a comfortable room, you should be ok.

Roller coasters make me incredibly sick. I have such motion sickness that I can barely ride an elevator. If you want to see poor Lisa turn green and throw up, and I’m sure you do, just put me on a boat, nothing could be more hellatious! Haha!

  9. The only coaster I’ve experienced is one I put my cup of tea on. So in that light I would name my ride The Teapot.

    Like

    • You know GfB, I think if the ride were called The Teapot, it would need a Steam-Vortex of Doom!
      Woohoo!!!

      • Jeez, I soiled meself just thinking about the terror inducing errmmm…terror of the Steam-Vortex of Doom.

Do you know the nursey rhyme that goes “I’m a little teapot short and stout, here’s my handle, here’s my spout”

There’s a little dance that goes with the handle and spout bits. If you incorporated this ditty into the S-VD you could be onto something big…….Parched. Off for a brew

  10. Have you been to Islands of Adventure in Florida? It’s right next to Disney, Epcot, Universal Studios, etc. — nothing but RIDES. That place is awesome!!

    • I’ve been toDisney and Epcot, never Islands of Adventure, Asplenia.
But thanks, next time I go down there, I’ll definitely try and check i out!

  11. That was cool to see the shuttle move on by. Not sure about roller coasters but usually when I do talk myself into going on one I’m usually wanting to go again.

    • I used to be the same way, starla. I just have to get over that initial terror, then I’d be fine.
Now, most of them honestly do bore me. The last ones I had any fun on were Space Mountain and the Rock N RollerCoaster, both part of Disney World.

      Like

      • Space Mountain was really Fun! I do remember that one I also remember all the sign along the way say Stop Turn Back if you have heart troubles and Warning …. by the time I got on the coster I was worried, but it turned out to be really really fun,

  12. I’m not sure how you can be so sanguine that the zombie apocalypse isn’t upon us. Seems willfully naive!
And I can’t comment on the coasters, ’cause I’m a big wussy.

Loved the answers about the Zombies, brilliant. πŸ˜†
Wow, that is unreal the guy skating on the rollcoaster tracks, I wouldn’t have thought that was possible, and I loved the video of the shuttle on the river, what a sight that would of been. πŸ™‚
