Today’s Music: Alana Davis – Reaper
Note on Today’s Music: A brilliant cover of a great song. The rest of her stuff is pretty good too. Hope you enjoy it!
Friday again at last. Where did the week go? And why didn’t it go faster?
It was a very long one for me – late nights and lots of frustration. How did I get through it? Why, by reading blogs of course!
Here’s some of what I saw:
Sofia Leo is moving ahead with her plans for freedom! Jamie had some great great thoughts on gay marriage. Lorre is celebrating her fourth(!) No Divorcesary!
And the inestimable Cayman Thorn gave me a blog of the year award!
Thanks to them, and all of you for giving me great stories to keep my head from falling off this week.
And thanks for the extra sunlight for giving me a few more minutes each day to figure out how to respond to your comments from last week’s poll. And also for revealing how many of you have coffin fetishes. You all, of course, have different ideas about the extra light that we asked about in last weeks poll. Here’s what you said. (As always, my comments rise and set in italics.)
Learn French. Je mange du fromage. (Sigh/went serious. Maybe next week. Maddie)
(Just grab a glass of wine and a beret. People will think you’re a native!)
Tune up the coffin. Don;t need the sunlight finding leaks. John Phillips
(Duct tape – strong enough for everything in life. And beyond…)
Feel like I didn’t wake up too late in the morning. – Carrie Cannibalistic Nerd
(Anything before noon is not too late. Trust me on this.)
so what if the days are getting shorter, it’s still winter till March 20th
(Stop dashing my hopes with your silly logic!)
Shut the blinds. –Lily In Canada
(*switches to infra red binoculars*)
Use the sunlight to charge batteries for my marijuana grow-op. John E.
(Couldn’t you just use the sunlight to grow all-natural?)
Sleep longer and watch out for mallets and stakes… Geoff
(You sleep on a croquet field?!?)
stay up late (like, till 5:15) (Stacy)
(Please tell me that’s a.m.!)
Laugh at Aussies because their days are getting shorter. (-UndercoverL)
(It’s all fun and games until someone gets bipped by a boomerang.)
Spend a little less time worrying about a Vampire getting me….zannyro
(…and a little bit more worrying about mosquitos…)
be caught sleeping in longer
(Not caught as much as envied…)
Is it too soon for nude sunbathing? (D. Delicious)
(Is that a serious question?!?)
…keep my front from falling off…once I find it. JOTS
(Nothing wrong with your front falling off. I mean, as long as there aren’t anti-nudity laws…)
Stand in the sunlight and sparkle like a half-breed vampire. x, Becca
(Sucks that sunlight doesn’t destroy the sparkly ones…)
Masturbate longer…Lorre (Articles of Absurdity)
(There’s still only 24 hours in the day…)
take more naps… yesss! I love me some afternoon naptime!
(With the extra light, you can branch into morning naps!)
shit…now the neighbors will see me naked. polysyllabicprofundities
(Without having to use the night-binoculars! I mean…or so I’ve heard…*crap*)
waste more time while I should be studying!! Woohoo! NBI
(That extra sunlight is just going to make the hangover more painful…)
turn on my lights later, duh! benzeknees
(I can’t believe you brought practical to the Foolishness…)
Make a movie about doughnuts, and drink my cares away! – Hotspur
(From the practical to the absurd…)
Run that extra 5 miles. Duh! – The Bumble Files
(Woah! It’s only a few extra minutes!)
deport piers morgan’s pimped up ride
(Could you make sure he’s in it at the time?)
sleep all day and party all night (SnB)
(So cutting down on the partying with longer days? Slacker.)
actually see the light of day
(What, the Michael J. Fox movie???
nap–of course (Addie)
(I get the feeling the time of year has nothing to do with your nap schedule…)
have to stay in my coffin a few minutes longer. – calahan
(Sounds like that’s a high…stakes…plan!)
I am going to daydream about darkness.
(Is politics really a suitable dream topic?)
Figure out exactly what a henge is. Elyse 54.5
(Not enough hours in any day to solve that!)
Spend more time in my coffin. (words&otherthings)
(Eventually, we’ll get all the time there we could want…)
Run over fewer morning/evening joggers dressed in all black. I hate them! Quirky
(But now that you can see them, they should be easier to hit…)
Since you told me the answer to next week’s poll is “peen” …Peen (twindaddy)
(No longer. You must now find the largest answer to the poll WITH…a herring! (Anyone? Anyone?))
preserve the integrity of my toes since I’ll be able to see the coffee maker!! polysyllabicprofundities
(So you have french roast toes when it’s dark out?)

(Glitter sale at the crafts store?)
I’ll have to stay in my crypt longer now….dammit! –Mel
(Be a nice spot if you can get wifi in there…)
As Becca suggested, have trampoline sex (Frank)
(I thought it was more a proposition than a suggestion…)
have more light to cut more trees without surprising a shitting bear? LizzieC
(Pretty sure they can still hear you coming at night…)
The most popular answer from the offered choices was That guy above is a jackass. Sleep late!. And I couldn’t agree more. He’s a real Morehead (combination of Moron and Meathead (Thanks benzeknees)!
Late nights at work.
Late nights writing posts.
Late nights responding to polls.
Makes a belly hungry. About the only thing I like it being late is the midnight snack.
A delicious high piled sandwich, a fresh burrito, those leftovers in the fridge that have been commingling for a week.
I love me a midnight snack. And I’m betting you do too. So that’s this weeks poll.
Answer on your way to dinner, or answer with a full stomach. But answer by 2359 on 24 January, Because that’s when this one closes. If you leave an other answer, leave your name and I’ll link back to you next week.
So that about wraps it up, and hopefully you’ll get a chuckle off of these to see you on your way.
First, I love this movie. And this is one of the goofiest bits in it.
And this is kind of funny. And I felt like the short guy at the end of this week…
Have a great week, y’all/ See you on the rebound!
Did I misread something (which happens often) or there’s no poll?
Guapo this freaks me out, I have issued, but I like to believe I can still read.
Tell you what, I’ll come back later and re-read it, cuz now I’m freaking out.
Thanks Doggy, totally missed that I missed that.
K, updated now.
Good to know I’m not going crazy yet.
No, you’re good.
For now… 😉
Brilliant again Guapper…..your italicized sarcasm helps me get through my Fridays!! And the Spaceballs bit was icing on the cake….classic movie!!
I was looking for Paul Rubens death scene from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I was hoping to go inane with the videos) and found that one instead.
(The Avengers clip is a stupid but funy bit too.)
Glad you liked the post!
I always like your posts…..combined sarcasm and brilliance at its best!!
i always forget to leave my name. fried egg and bacon on toast–yum!!
That actually soundws good enough for me to and get one now, Addie.
Is it midnight yet?
I just made one because it’s midnight in, um, err, it’s midnight over there *waves vaguely to the east*
Oh I can sense the tough week you had. Ouch! Hope you can enjoy the weekend … maybe you need a new adventure … something daring!
Though I’m thinking a nap under warm blankets would set me right.
Who the hell won the poll! Am I blind, Guap? WHO? DON’T LEAVE US HANGING ON…… AAAAAAAARRRRRRGGHHHHHHH.
No winner this week, Ginger.
Hey, you’re lucky you didn’t get here earlier, before DoggyStyle pointed out that I forgot to put this week’s poll in…
Awesome music today!! Alana Davis is one of my absolute favorites!
I heard her cover of Reaper and picked up Surrender Dorothy the same day, Ashley.
Definitely a good purchase.
Good poll even though my answers are never witty – I put a peanut butter and jelly sandwich accompanied by ice cold milk. I know, I’m like a five year old!
Have a wonderful weekend, Guapo!!
Spaceballs cracks me up!!
Hey, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (with warm peanut butter) and ice cold milk is one of the greatest comfort foods ever, Grippy!
You’re addictive, El Guapo! (you make everyone feel like a winner)
I get a three-day weekend for this one – hope you do, too!
Yeah, my girl and I have Monday off too. That means extra naps!
Space Balls is hysterical. I think it is one of my all tie fave Mel Brooks, although he has quite a stable of side-splitters. Hope you are off to a wonderful weekend. Last few days of a vaca before I am back at the grind. Hope I was missed 😛
Of course you were missed Red!
Though you did have a fine crop of posters in your absence.
Nice post Guap…I enjoyed the Hulk video. Hope your weekend is oodles better than your week! See ‘ya around and take care…and enjoy your naps!
Naps and a weekend. that’s a recipe for success, Rogue!
Midnight eating is a really bad idea – who wants to gain weight while *sleeping* fer cryin’ out loud? I asked who is awake and eating at midnight…
Hmm…sleep eating….I find myself intrigued, Sofia…
Hey….There may still be 24 hours in the day, but I like it with the lights on (natural light). So there (tongue out like a child)!
Egad! You realize you have an avatar of a small child, right Lorre?!?
(By the way – try it under flourescents. It will nullify the circadian rhythyms and you can go even longer!)
Whoops! Wrong blog avatar. Okay….You can call social services now!
Hey Guap! I have to catch up on today’s post later on… such a busy day. One of my tasks is shipping prizes. So… I have a little pile of dragonflies with your name on it — where do I send?? Again my email is email@example.com. Thanks!!
Glad you made it to Friday with such a good attitude–it’s the only way to survive the week.
Loved that version of “Reaper.” I’m only so-so on the original (sometimes I really like it, sometimes it sounds like a relic), but that captured the creepiness without the cheese.
I have to be careful eating late at night. Not only for the reasons Sofia detailed above (it doesn’t take much for me to become Jabba the Hutt), but also because my treacherous stomach gives me problems if I eat too much too late.
Got home from work one night this week around eleven (no, I work a regular day job), Smak.
Took me til about 1 am to get myself fed and ready for bed.
I try not to skip meals because of a stretch in my past. They’re too significant to me.
Well, look at that! Being last to comment puts you at the top of the heap. Bonus! 😉 I like UndercoverL’s – “Laugh at Aussies because their days are getting shorter.” I’ve been laughing at quite a few Aussie’s these days. There are some funny bloggers in the land down under.
Some of my favorites are from there too, Maddie.
Although most of the blogs I read are my favorite, so…
Oh where do my words go when they are swept into the void of uncertainty, to be blown hither and yon amongst the swirling void like sparrows in a tornado, to be torn asunder by the wild winds of fortune, never to be heard from again… oh, to be heard or not to be heard, that is the question?
I like spam for a midnight snack… it gets delivered straight to my computer and doesn’t cost me a thing.
Spam, with a nice thick Nigerian gravy. PMAO?
I make my gravy with a mixture of spicy comments and some of my own clever words and pictures… I am that self-absorbed. Can you not tell who did the answer to your poll unless I type my name in at the end? This time I did a comment, and then cut and pasted it in the poll box, but it stopped working and I couldn’t add PMAO at the end.
I’ll match the IP. You should just be able to type in the other box and click Vote.
There’s a limit to how many letters it will take though – I think about 80.
That’s less than Twitter. My cleverositude can not be constrained in such fashion. When I need to do more, I will stick to the comment box. It isn’t all about getting put in the next post. It is all about making you smile.
Amen, PMAO,and well done.
If I wasn’t so worried about trying to impress you, this would be a lot easier…
I tried to put that answer in the voting box thing, but it wouldn’t let me, just so you know.
Hmm…we’ll have to sort out what’s going on with that…
It is most likely me being a computer moron…
“Laugh at Aussies because their days are getting shorter.”—Ouch! But hahahahaha, funny.
Brilliant as always!
I meant your post was as brilliant as always. Just thought I should clarify.
Thank you Carrie!
(Fortunately, I get great material to work off of in the answers.)
Nice cover..sounds like a completely different song! Brilliant, EG!! I think I’ll go climb in my coffin now. Your post gets me through, too. Enjoy your weekend!
Hope you get a three day weekend for MLK day.
Indeed, I do, EG! I hope you get it, too! Enjoy!
Man, this has been a sucky week for EVERYBODY – yours truly included! Too bad they haven’t gotten those Star Trek food replicators working yet, or I’d order a round of re-constituted booze for everybody!
Have a great weekend! 😀
And I would enjoy that drink with appreciation, John.
Hopefully our next week goes smoother.
Damnit. I bet we aaaaaaaall thought we were being so original with the coffin talk, too. And when I said that just now it reminded me of Coffee Talk:
One of the best skits they ever did, Nicole!
Yet another wicked and gripping read El Guapo
Fridays wouldn’t be the same without your twist
on humour my great friend 🙂 🙂
Thanks so much, Geoff!
Thank you for changing my link in your side bar
and for all the laughs, your Space becoming one
of my favourite haunts 🙂 🙂
I realized I hadn’t updated in a while, and didn’t want people to think you weren’t there anymore.
So no winner this week, that’s the pits! Who chooses the winner – TMWGITU? I’m glad I was one of the few who didn’t talk about coffins.
So what made your week so long? You must have a passle of posts to read. Thanks for using morehead!
Fortunately, there is absolutely no scientific method to the picking of the winner, Benze.
I realized I didn’t have one after I’d answered all the write ins, and just didn’t go back to change it.
I wrote pezhead, then remembered the great new word I’d heard this week!
Congrats on the bling and yes, this week flew past.. so now let us put the brakes on the weekend so it goes by slowwwwwwwwwwww…
have a wonderful one 😉
You’re right, FPP. I hope we all go out of our way to enjoy the weekend as much as possible!
Woo Hoo! I made it here on Friday this week! The very best part of Friday Foolishness for me is the results of the poll, and more specifically, your wry commentary! Such a fun way to kick off the weekend!
Enjoy your weekend, my friend!
Why thank you, Delicious!
And hope you have a great weekend too!
This Alana is one smooth chica on the vocals. It’s no small thing, throwing down with the Blue Oyster Cult, but she moved it into a beautiful new sound. As for that Michael J flick? I remember seeing it in the theater; all suited up in my two toned leather jacket. I really never did cool very well, come to think of it.
Hmm…lets jsut say you grew into cool, Cayman, and never speak of that movie again.
Though I remember being upset that I couldn’t get out to see it, until I heard that it wasn’t that good.
How you gonna change the answer? That’s messed up.
On the other hand, I did give you a pretty good Python quote, Twin. That’s gotta be worth something…
Quite a few vampire references and comments about nudity, but no nude vampires. Damn it.
I’m guessing there were Michelle, but they had strategically placed sparkles…
when did it get to be Friday?
and where did all these people come from? I thought I was early…and who won> and what the hell you never told me – oh but I guess its safe to assume that actually was a band and not a terrorist plot.. is that really you? Im not so sure… gimme a sign.. Spaceballs was good.. but I just can;t ,,,
I got it! what IF it was the mightiest tree in the forest – and I used …a .. HERRING? Then what do you think the lumberjack would say when the bear threw his tp at him?
Have a great weekend.. 🙂
oh.. and hi to TMWGITU..:-)
that wasn;t random by the way although it may appear so – it might be the largest answer to the poll.. herring.. ok just saying…someone 😉
I don’t ever snack at midnight, but that sounds like a sandwich and a half 🙂
Hope you recover well from your heavy week, Guapo. I share your pain.
Thanks NBI. I’m hoping next week is better…
It’s a nice song by the way!
Glad you liked it! She’s pretty good.
I love Fridays and your space. You’re so sweet and giving. One of the many reasons I adore you.
Thanks so much, Becca!
(And here I was trying to be admired for my moobs.)
(Have to find some more low cut spandex tops…)
Yeesh, dude. Your comments are longer than your posts! Thanks for steering me to the Life of Jamie post on gay marriage. You both rock!
Thanks so much, WIM2S!
Jamie really put up a great post on the topic.
hihi, EG… sorry to hear you bein’ on the downside of the energy scale peak flow-o-meter from the week, dude… this was an AAA+++ post, DESPITE you feelin’ like a funy puny god!! Everything about this week’s post rocks, especially the CAAFFFEEE TAAALK bit!!! Love it! Take it easy and be good to yourself this weekend what with the extra day and all… oh and that daylight thing…? Recently I was on an up at dawn day/sleep at dusk internal clock, so now I have to get used to being up way past my bedtime!!!
I gotta say, I think PMAO should get the prize for admitting to trying to impress you (like we all do that)… it’s this unspoken challenge every week… am I good enough today to vote on the poll AND comment!?!?!?
WHEW! I’m off to bed for the weekend!!!
(Us old folks still need all our beauty sleep!)
PS thanks for the support to us guest posters at Red’s this week – it was this past week, wasn’t it – or was that a dream I had!?!?!?
Turns out this week decided to thump me too.
Ok, universe. It’s on…
So glad of the extra daylight (not much sun down our way though. Wish we had the cold bright white of snow rather that the grey days with the odd glimpse of sunshine)
Couldn’t see where to leave my name on your poll! I’m the bananas and lemon curd vote!
Hope the coming week is better for you than the last one. Keep your pecker up as they say here in the UK! 🙂
Just put your name at the end of your write-in, beautiful.
(I’ll make sure full credit is given.)
And here I was thinking my pecker up all the time would get me in trouble. Time to relocate to merry old England!
LOVE Spaceballs! And that was one of my favorite scenes from Avengers! I laughed so hard!
I could probably watch Spaceballs a whole lot more than I do and not get sick of it, Giggles. One of Mel’s best!
Hope you had a great weekend, Guap! ❤
Alas, my weekend (and most of my week) was a flu induced haze.
Can I convince you to get a flu shot next year? ❤
Well, I meant to, but you know, I got distracted…
Sorry for the late comment – was in Barcelona admiring the forms (yowzer!) – well done on the awars and I agree your decision this week! (The first for many a long time matey).
Foolishness vs Forms, GfB?
No apologies necessary!
I’m welling up.
Speaking of stupid joggers again. This really happened last week. A dad was jogging with his 6-year-olds (assumed age) on the non-existent shoulder of a 35 mph road that is hilly with blind spots at dusk, during evening traffic, when there are BOTH a bike lane AND a sidewalk directly across the street. What the living hell is wrong with people?!!!!!!!!!!!
Hopefully the dad didn’t pass on that brand of silliness to his kid, Quirky…
Hahahaha! You’re wearing out the h and the a on my keyboard! I also had to laugh at how Haggis is so disgusting people didn’t even want to click the box! I love Space Balls!! Why didn’t somebody tell me my ass was so big! That gets said quite a bit around here!
I think I will rededicate my blog to the purpose of bringing the joys of Haggis to the people, Linda!
That seems like a worthwhile project…maybe…
I truly don’t think there is a more worthwhile cause in all the solar system, Guap. Please say you’ll do it. I’ll be internally grateful! 😀
Infernally grateful? Butterchurn-ally grateful?
Ok, now I”m hungry for butter.
I do the same. Read blogs to cure my boredom, make me cry and to make me laugh my head off. WordPress has the best bloggers on earth.
But there are also some great bloggers I follow on blogspot too.
When will then be now!?
Man, I’m still trying to figure out who’s on first.
He’s not. Who is on second.
I’m always late to the game in commenting, Guap, but not because I don’t care. It’s because on Fridays I’m either driving my kids to one of their 1,000 sports commitments or drinking. =)
I don’t think that’s true Stacie.
I think sometimes you’re at the kids sports commitments and drinking.
