Today’s Music: AC/DC – Thunderstruck
…But I know where I am right now – over at Running On Sober with Michael from Good2BeGone doing Life In 6 Songs for Christy, CK Hope and Mama Mick.
Check it out, and you can even submit your own playlist!
(And comment over there too!)
I don’t know what this is but I will listen to the music and hope it offers some solace for just cutting the tip of my finger off (along with loads of lilacs… they are so beautiful). Boo for that but yay for this on a Monday morning. Ok, I just went over there and figured it out– SO COOL! Will comment when typing is no longer painful.
But think how much more beautiful the lilacs will be with that fertilizer!
Hope it’s a shallow cut. I have nicks all over my hands from this weekend’s packing.
That’s like an italicized reply to one of your poll answers, mister!
Small nicks and cuts are par for the course in my business but no, unfortunately, this fits into the Deepish and Will Not Stop Bleeding category and has warranted a special trip to Walgreens for gauze (?) and tape (?) and super glue (?) which I hope will work.
Are you moving?
Great playlist Guap. I *think* I left a comment over on the main post, but I can’t be sure. it’s Monday afterall, and I’m not operating on full brain capacity just yet.
p.s. I am back to NYC next week. Yippee!!
If you like, ping me when you’re in town.
Will do. I’ll be in Times Sq area again.
Great choices, Guap. I’m particularly fond of Stevie Ray Vaughn. “Pride and Joy” was always my favorite.
Pride and Joy is a classic! Great choice.
Pride and Joy, so awesome. Always liked Mary Had A Little Lamb and Life By The Drop and Cold Shot and Lenny and…
Oh, yes, Cold Shot. How could I forget about that one? So good.
Alas, I didn’t really discover SRV until he’d passed and missed an opportunity to see him live…a regret I must live with.
After your and REDdog’s comments, I left a Stevie Ray play list running on youtube.
Another Stevie Ray fan! Just Stevie Ray, or Blues in general?
Freddie, Albert, BB, Sonny Boy, Blind Lemon, Blues Bros, Muddy, Buddy, J.J., Eric, Jimi, George, Janis,…everything from Rock’n’Roll backwards brother
Fantastic! I wish I knew more good jazz too, but except for a few names, it can be hard to navigate.
Thunderstruck is such a catchy song! I read the post and it was really interesting Guapo :). I still have to listen to some of the songs though…
Hope you enjoy them!
Fun stuff, Guap !) Love me some Buffet, cold beer, hot winds and surf… ah, the life ! =) I am more in an AC/DC mood today however, and Thunderstruck exactly does it for me at this minute ! =) I always listen to AC/DC when The Professor is making me nuts… !
Ha! As long as he doesn’t drive you to “Dirty Deeds”…
I am SO not going there ! =) =) And I am so not cheap, so that’s that. =)
Have you seen this?
good lord, that’s fantastic!
Blew me away, man!
Stevie Ray – Monday’s better now. Thanks
Thanks Philosopher. That song is an instant pick-me-up.
What do I have to do to get a link on your blog, Guap? This would be the awesomesauce on top of my sundae of life. Or something. Oh, and Judah wants to drop you in a jungle of extreme cougars for a reality show – FYI.
There should be a reality contest show of people fighting for the awesomesauce on the sundae of their lives.
Oh wait. That’s Family Feud, isn’t it?
Um…four legged cougars or two?
Oh my word. You just took me back to the 80’s! I think I need a rum and coke. I need an explanation on the clash video – I know the song well but haven’t really listened to the lyrics properly. What’s the whole American thing happening there?
Oh, it’s all 70s socio-political commentary.
I just like the song.
thought it might be something like that
Oh and one more thing – took my guitar out of storage to sell today – (surfboard fund). After that one video – it’s confirmed – guitar must go…
Egad! I coudn’t do that.
What kind of guitar?
Its a yamaha G something or other. (accoustic) I just have to admit that I am not musical and only play it about every 5 years.
I’d sell my board before my guitars.
Thank god I don’t have to make that choice!
we could swap!
I was listing to Emerson, Lake and Palmer until my brother bought a Clash album for me. He said if I didn’t change my ways musically he was going to kick my ass.
Eric Clampton is…I hope you’re sitting down…overrated. The best part of Layla are those pounding piano chords.
Poor SRV. Gone but not forgotten. My fried got to see him live. What’s better than that? Not much.
I could never participate in this exercise. My musical taste has always been so uncool.
Oh yes you could. Don’t make me make you. 😉
Can I count you in?
I think my blog offers-up enough crushing humiliation, the current post included. I’d better take a pass.
Ah well, no worries. Humiliation is best is limited doses, I guess.
do any of us ever really experience “enough” crushing humiliation?
And if so, I’d like to have my card validated so I don’t have to do it anymore.
Some of us are crushed so utterly and completely, that we actually end up ENJOYING the experience. That’s turning things around.
No card punch for you. There’s no end to it, is my understanding.
I’d be very curious to hear your version of this list. There is no wrong answer.
I know a lot of people don’t like Clapton, but I think it’s legitimate to say he expanded the boundaries of what could be done with a guitar, along with guys like Jimi Hendrix and Bill Frissell.
We’re on the road to nowhere…
Come on inside!
So glad to see some Buffet on your list–your mom liked him too if I remember correctly? Great picks, thanks for playing along!
Thanks so much! It was fun reading the list and notes on your site to see what a jackass I am! 😀
You? A jackass? Never!
(But with all my rescue donkeys, you’re in good company.)
Gotta love a list with “the Clash”, Dr. John and Van Morrison! It was fun, happy to have been placed on the docket with you.
Thanks Michael. You also had a great eclectic set.
Dude, you have awesome taste in music. I will never accept The Clash as anything but number 1 in any playlist. You have done well, soldier.
It’s shocking, but I know people who don;t like The Clash!
Here’s one From Mick Jones with Carbon/Silicon. I think they only lasted for the one album. Decent live show though.
Dude, thanks for that. The very voice, the abundance of Clash love… they were so damn righteous. So important.
Bright Side of the Road is a brilliant choice, Guap – one of my all time favourites! Just love Stevie Ray Vaughn as well (and have recently been getting into Tab Benoit) 😉
Life In 6 Songs is a great idea! 😀
I like Tab! Are you familiar with Taj Mahal? Saw him once on a bill with Dr John and Van Morrisson. what a show!
The 6 songs is hard! I wrote the list, then didn’t look back, otherwise I’d have wanted to change it. I was amused to see what I’d picked.
Yes – very familiar with Taj Mahal! Life without music would be my idea of hell – I just can’t live without it 😀
That show sounds like it would have been brilliant!
As long as you’re enjoying the ride!
If only there were a song for that…
I love your song choice on this post and can’t wait to head over and listen to your life’s playlist. I’ve submitted mine too. I love this concept!
Fantastic! Looking forward to hearing your set too!
Very interesting. I will give it a shot. Been out of the loop lately, had to put aside the keyboard to keep it all together, but, very interesting. I bookmarked it.
