Today’s Music: Orianthi featuring Steve Vai – Highly Strung
Days Til Spring: 62
My misadventures have spread even further out into the internet.
Eric Murtaugh – adventurer, iconclast, bon vivant – asked me to do a guest post.
So I did.
On scuba diving.
And yes, I come off looking goofy in this one too. Hey, blog imitating life…
After you’ve checked out my post, you should check out the rest of his site. Really, I’m not sure where he finds the time to blog, because he’s out in the world. Or just out there…
And he brings back pictures.
So check him out. I had a great time writing it, and am glad he thought it was good enough to post.
And come back Friday. Because the foolishness will be on baby.
Oh.
Yeah.
I checked it out and it was good. Great tune by the way. Very skilled are they.

Thanks, whiteladyinthehood! Does that mean you’ll let your brother teach you to dive now?

Hi. 🙂 I left a comment over there for you and Eric and am just going to add here that I really like those posts about doing stuff that you do. You are very adept at the delivery and inspiring an urge to do it too!
I got myself mixed up because I think I was going to post this there and that here and I am afraid I might have scared him. 😕 sigh. I went snorkeling off of a reef in Panama once and it was the weirdest feeling to go under the water – like being on a different planet. If I had known then that I was part alien I might not have freaked out which sadly I did…and …….anyways great job as always and I am going to do ..something before I get to 400 words. again. 🙂
Peace
oh but see I am afraid of drowning – so you think I could handle it? Is there an advisory for cracked people too? Would I get water in my brain? Also – I live in the desert. that could be a problem right? fiddlesticks and whatever i am going now…like NOW..:-P

I’ve got another post coming here describing my freakout, lizziecracked.
And drowning scares the hell out of me too. but the diving is so much fun that it’s worth the risk!

Those are good tips! And great pics! I always wanted to scuba dive, but never got around to it.

You’ll be able to do it with your whole growing family soon enough, jell jell.
Minimum age is 10 years old.
And young divers are unfairly cool.

I made furniture once.
Ok, it was a 2×4 on a sawhorse.
But it worked like a seat.
Until it broke….

Okay…I LOVE to swim, so it appears that diving is just a really fun extension of that…with a bit o’danger thrown in to make it that more interesting. You’ve convinced me… I’m thinking this diving stuff would be awesome to try. I’ll let you know if I work up the courage/time to take the ‘plunge’…

I really hope you do, kayjai. It’s like flying over an alien world.
You should keep hitting Eric’s site. Pretty sure he’ll get you all pumped up for it.

I have snorkeled in Hawaii and Florida before, but never took the time to learn to scuba. There actually are scuba schools near me in land-locked Chicago, believe it or not. Haven’t tried them yet.

I’ve heard The great lake off Chicago is a great place to dive, Dan.
And there are wrecks to dive on too, for those who are so inclined….

My uncle went wreck diving in Lake Michigan off Chicago, and he said it was badass. Something to think about if you’re into badass stuff, Dan.

Cool post. I went through certification about 30 years ago, but only made a couple of dives. I’m more comfortable snorkeling than diving and fortunately the colorful creatures are just as abundant in 15 to 20 feet of water as they are in 50 feet. Rock climbing, diving – you are quite the thrill seeker!

There’s too much to do out there, sandylikeabeach.
I want to get to as much of it as I can before I die.
Unless I die in the chase…

That was a good tutorial on scubba diving! Geez! I love that you do so many dangerous, exciting things. Rock climbing, scuba diving, naked bar dancing.
Is there anything you shy away from? Whenever I think of myself scuba diving I get kind of a sinking feeling!

So far Linda, ice climbing is about the only thing I’ve run into that I don’t want to try…

Amazing, I’ve always wanted to learn how to dive!! I am an avid snorkeler and kayaker but one can only go so deep.
A friend of mine who dives was telling me that he worries more about parrot fish than sharks because they are so territorial. Have you ever had had a run-in with one?

Had a run in with a dolphin, which was ridiculously cool, Andrea.
I enjoy kayaking too, but diving is like another world!

Diving scares me…a lot. But not as much as sky diving. Maybe I just don’t like anything with the word “diving” in it.

Then I probably shouldn’t tell you that on my list of things to do is to skydive in scuba gear, float down, then cut away from the chute about 5 – 10 ft off the water and switch to scuba.
Saw it in a James Bond flick and loved it, thoughtsappear!
