But I have been playing Rocksmith on the PS3. Didn’t realize I Can’t Get No Satisfaction had just 3 notes.

Just spent a few minutes researching that.
There are several posts around the web (including Wikipedia) that say there was a mixture of water and milk so the rain would show up on film better.
however, according to both Gene Kelly
(Shooting the title number was just terrible for the photographer Hal Rossen. He had to backlight all the rain and then he had to put frontlight on the performer. That was as tough a job as I’ve ever seen, because you can’t photograph in rain and see it.)
and director Stanley Donen, no milk was used.

There are those that say the milk is a natural antidepressant.
If drank while singing you’re song above, there would be no sad people in the world.
But there would be a lot of milk-soaked monitors and keyboards.

First off…who knew milk had so many awesome uses? Keeping me sane, faux rain, ruined keyboard…
Secondly, I have a whole playlist on my iPod that consists of only songs about rain. So I extra loved the use of rain in the weekly poll. 😀

Well it’s odd when you learn something about something you never questioned. It knocks you a little wonky for a moment. Milk? It’s rain… I mean, gosh I didn’t know rain doesn’t just look like that in a movies or photo.. No, really. So no you aren’t the only one who didn’t know about the milk. Gonna be awhile before the Gene Kelly tune stops popping into my head with my morning bowl of Wheaties. (ok I don’t really eat Wheaties) and when I’m in the shower singing Red Rain – I will be able to get through without changing it to White rain or now pondering how the rain was red. Gosh.

Film is funny like that. I think the police cars in Car 54 Where Are You? were actually bright red, because that looked blacker than black through a camera.
Does this mean I’m the only one who hums Chariots Of Fire when I eat my Wheaties? In slow motion? (k, I don;t eat em either, but couldn’t let that one go….)
