Today’s Music: John Hiatt – Feels Like Rain
Another busy week in Guapoville. I…and then I….Well, I also….
Okay, maybe not so busy.
But I have been playing Rocksmith on the PS3. Didn’t realize I Can’t Get No Satisfaction had just 3 notes.
So in old business, here are the results from last weeks poll.
The Other answers were (italics are mine)
– i am not taking clothes and i am staying naked all week
(I want to travel with you!)
– … will be just as cold and miserable as this place, I’m afraid.
(Fire your travel agent. Now.)
– Will be colorado. Tickets, skis, equipment are already packed!
(Green with envy I am.)
– Won’t be the mall on a weekend!
(excellent plan. But will we be able to stick to it?)
And the winners, with a tie, are
Will be to your world to see what color the sky is
and
BRAAAAIIIINNNNSSSS!!!!!!
Sometimes you people scare me.
***UPDATE – Someone added “a duet” as an Other response.
This has been added as a choice, and I’m sorry I didn’t think of it.
Thanks!
And to hold you over until next week’s Friday Foolishness, I give you the classic singing while wet song…
Wasn’t Gene dancing in milk?

Just spent a few minutes researching that.
There are several posts around the web (including Wikipedia) that say there was a mixture of water and milk so the rain would show up on film better.
however, according to both Gene Kelly
(Shooting the title number was just terrible for the photographer Hal Rossen. He had to backlight all the rain and then he had to put frontlight on the performer. That was as tough a job as I’ve ever seen, because you can’t photograph in rain and see it.)
and director Stanley Donen, no milk was used.
*Above facts and info taken from the deep-digging and informative GeneKellyFans.com, their page specifically on Milk in Singin’ In The Rain.
I’d never heard that before, John. Thanks for pointing me towards (what turns out to be) an interesting myth.

no kidding. The more I find that interests me, the less time I have to actually blog. I have a queue of posts building and can’t find the time to do them. Maybe this weekend haha Cool to find out it was a myth.

Wow, thank you for researching that! I always thought they used the milk/water combo. I love that movie so much.

I’m getting the feeling I’m the only one who never heard the milk story…
I’m so unhip.

Yeah, but it’s a lie! The fact that you’re the only one to bother verifying it makes up for any previous ignorance.

“I’m singing in the milk
Just singing in the milk
What a glorious feeling
I shouldn’t have worn silk”
Not as catchy … but it works.

There are those that say the milk is a natural antidepressant.
If drank while singing you’re song above, there would be no sad people in the world.
But there would be a lot of milk-soaked monitors and keyboards.
Thanks for the laugh, ODNT. Gonna wipe the orange soda off my computer now…

As one enjoying ballroom, he’s pretty damn good … but I did he stiff the cabbie?

Perish the thought, aFrankAngle! Though now I have to rewatch the movie to see if it was his cab, and if he asked him to wait…
He’s very good. But could he do it backwards in heels?

Hi,
I really enjoyed the Gene Kelly video, and of course sang along with it, obviously no one else home at the moment. 😀

Glad you liked it, magsx2.
Perhaps it will be inspiration for an Australian flash mob?

First off…who knew milk had so many awesome uses? Keeping me sane, faux rain, ruined keyboard…
Secondly, I have a whole playlist on my iPod that consists of only songs about rain. So I extra loved the use of rain in the weekly poll. 😀

Don’t forget that milk grows strong bones too!
My girl has playlists like that. I prefer albums…. Still, to each their own.
Thanks for coming by, flame!

Well it’s odd when you learn something about something you never questioned. It knocks you a little wonky for a moment. Milk? It’s rain… I mean, gosh I didn’t know rain doesn’t just look like that in a movies or photo.. No, really. So no you aren’t the only one who didn’t know about the milk. Gonna be awhile before the Gene Kelly tune stops popping into my head with my morning bowl of Wheaties. (ok I don’t really eat Wheaties) and when I’m in the shower singing Red Rain – I will be able to get through without changing it to White rain or now pondering how the rain was red. Gosh.
🙂 Peace

Film is funny like that. I think the police cars in Car 54 Where Are You? were actually bright red, because that looked blacker than black through a camera.
Does this mean I’m the only one who hums Chariots Of Fire when I eat my Wheaties? In slow motion? (k, I don;t eat em either, but couldn’t let that one go….)
thanks for stopping by, lizziecracked, but ask yourself this: what about the Purple Rain?
