Today’s Music: Iron Maiden – Run To The Hills
Not much in Guapoville this week. A lot of the week was ruined by a high priority project at work. But part one of that is over now, and part two will hopefully be less of a headache.
So, let’s get right to the action.
We had some great write-ins for last week’s poll, When In The Shower, I Like To Sing…
The first write-in was “A Duet” by John Phillips, and it was such a good choice, I added it to the options
Here are the rest of the Others: (italics are mine)
Create a tune to match the gurgling sound in the drain while taking a leak.
(Party like a rockstar!)
nothing. I do my best singing in my car.
(I recommend singing everywhere!)
as loud as I possibly can to annoy my kids and/or scare away intruders.
(Family and security. Both very important)
in my purple satin speedo (Sarah Boynton, Blue Moo, Workman Publishing)
(Thanks, Sarah. The visual image is both exciting and disturbing)
Elvis Costello hits, mostly.
(Excellent choice. I’ve seen him, he puts on a great show, but I think yours might be better – he gets to do it dry.)
(This is a series of clips of Marshall from How I Met Your Mother singing. I probably sound like this when I sing…)
badly
(It’s the effort that counts!)
while masturbating (my husband’s vote)
(I really didn’t need to know that)
I don’t sing in the shower!
(You, my friend, are missing out.)
And the winner is…
A Duet.
But kudos to the person that voted BRRAAAIIINNNNSS!!!! You’re keeping the dream alive!
And for today, just a bit of silliness, but it gets you two videos below. For those of you leaving “Other” answers, plese leave your name/handle in your answer so you can get proper credit. Unless it has to do with masturbating.
-voting ends Thursday, 22 December at 1159 pm.
And now, to keep you busy until next week’s poll…
Firstly, I was having a conversation with Rachel Black, and My Favorite year came up.
For those of you who always wondered who the hell Niblik was, wonder no more. The clip is about 6 minutes, all of it hilarious. Niblik pops up at about 3:25
And just for kicks, a fun bubble gum pop rock song, Bryan Adams – If You Wanna Leave Me, Can I Come Too?
So, enjoy your weekend, vote often, and stay out of trouble. Unless you can get and post pictures of it as it happens.

Okay, seriously? That might be one of the best 80s cult movies. Ever. Ever, in the history of ever.
DUCKIE! 😀

Friends of mine went to see OMD recently. Twice.
There are some things I just don’t understand… Not a bad song, but it’s staying power surprises me. And yes, in the interests of full disclosure, I too was angsty to this music in my youth.
Definitely a cult movie, theflameinside. For cults. That have been brainwashed to wear dayglo spandex and leg warmers. In public.

Couldn’t resist, the poll title made me do it. It actually jumped right out of my BRRRAAAAIIINNNSSS!!!!

This is also the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the poll.

I’m not sure if I’m relieved that I’m the only one who thought of Bryan Adams, or disturbed that everyone else thought of OMD…
Although both songs are fun and are reminders of a time gone by.

JUst watched the Alan Swann! I’ve never seen this movie. Now I know what I’m watching over the weekend. I just hope it’s on Netflix!

Totally worth seeing. I get an awful lot of yardage quoting that movie.

Hi,
A great way to start the morning, had to laugh at the fire hose scene in the video. 🙂

Thanks, magsx2. I love that scene, and the rest of the movie really…

Thank you, The Hook.
And if you mean the graphic for Bryan Adams, not my fault – that’s what You Tube had.
It was my only choice…

Love the video of Marshall singing. I tried to post a link to that on your last poll, but it was too long. Lol!

Too funny.
Sorry it wouldn’t let you. At least the magic has finally arrived!

You said Guapoville, but I would have gone with Guapolis.
My fave movie songs are Moving In Stereo (from Fast Times at Ridgemont High) and Burn (from The Crow), and a lot of others because I am incapable of having one favorite of anything, which makes me glad I’m a Mormon! Ha ha!

Any thoughts on Guapoton, or Isla del Guapo? I might try Guapoburg too…
Not sure what I’d go with for favorite movie song, but whenever I take a road trip, when I cross out of NYC (bridge or tunnel), I try to remember to play the Star Wars main theme.

Oh good Lord, Marshall’s singing is quite something else! Hope the weekend is headache-free 🙂

Oh, Marshall! Though I have been the person in the car singing of I Would Walk 500 Miles exactly like that :).
And the answer is always BRAINNNSSSS!!!! Isn’t it?

I try and sing (yell) one word per breath of 500 miles at the chorus, just for the extra feeling of intensity.
It is if we’re talking about…never mind, that really doesn’t need to be said…

Haven’t seen it that often, but apparently it has a lot of fans.
It’s ok, Gorrade, I’ll hang out in the corner with you while they run down.
If you’re curious and want to know more (specifically about Ted’s Umbrella (no idea what that is either)), go here http://justbeingthoughtful.wordpress.com/2011/12/14/lifes-somber-moment/
Someone’s umbrella broke, and I guess somehow it’s HIMYM related…
I don;t get it either…

AH come on … that’s not bubblegum music … but this is by the infamous 1910 Fruitgum Company … and I didn’t realize they reunited.

Love your survey. Love Pretty in Pink. Watched in again just recently, after a 10 year pause. The soundtrack is definitely in my top 10 all time favourite CD’s.

I’m amazed at how I’m in the minority for the Pretty In Pink movement!
Ah well, what can you do…

Pretty in Pink was my least favortite of the movies of that time – I mean the ones wth Molly Ringwald et all and I can’t think of the guy who produced them. Wow – kinda embarrassing it’s right there on he tip of my tongue? ummmmm ok yes I tho0ught of OMD and was going to put the next line in the song as my answer, but strangely – I truely think I might be on the verge of a massive brain fart…it’s not eggnog I know that. Totally digging Marshall singing, great show. I often and gladly break into song for any and no reason – much to the chagrin of the Gaggle. I enjoyed the foolishness as always. 🙂

Many thanks for the mention and link . -cursty- I’m flattered by the link, but mostly because of the comments regarding My Favorite Year, posted by other readers here.
Your clips this week brought a crack to this frozen black heart.
Dug the Pretty in Pink video, but my fave 80’s flicks are Ferris Bueller (SAVE FERRIS) and 16 Candles (Whatsa happening ahot stuff?).
Your Friday foolishness made my Weekend Wackiness just perfect.
A toast to you, John Hughes, and of course Peter O’ Toole.

We should take over a club and start having theme nights!
Love Ferris Beuller, but I think I might actually like Parker Lewis Cant Lose more.
Anyone remember that?
Glad you got a laugh, Rachael. My pleasure!
